One of our favourite summertime meals is grilled Halloumi wraps with Spicy O’Reilly’s Hot Mango sauce. The sweet and spicy mango sauce pairs perfectly with the salty, grilled cheese, and the wraps are easy to make and can be customised to your liking. Whether you’re looking for a quick and easy weekday meal or a fun dish to share with friends at a summer BBQ, these grilled Halloumi Wraps are sure to please.

Ingredients:

If you love the taste of grilled cheese, you’ll adore these halloumi wraps! Halloumi is a type of cheese that originates from Cyprus. It’s made from a blend of sheep’s milk and goat’s milk, and has a high melting point, making it ideal for grilling. These wraps also feature the wonderful Spicy O’Reilly’s Hot Mango Sauce, which adds a delicious spicy kick.

To make Spicy Grilled Halloumi Wraps, you’ll need:

– 1 pack of Halloumi cheese

– Mixed salad leaves of your choice

– 1/2 sliced red onion

– 1 grilled red or green pepper

– Sliced tomatoes and cucumber

– Creamy coleslaw

– Spicy O’Reilly’s Hot Mango Sauce

How to cook:

1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

2. Cut the halloumi cheese into ½-inch thick slices, and set aside.

3. Peel and slice the peppers, and grill until slightly charred.

3. In a bowl, mix together the diced red onion, salad leaves, tomato, and cucumber slices.

4. Grill the halloumi cheese for 2 to 3 minutes per side, or until golden brown.

6. Remove from the grill, and let cool for a few minutes before cutting into strips.

7. Assemble the wraps by adding a spoonful of creamy coleslaw and a few strips of grilled halloumi cheese to a soft tortilla.

8. Add the mixed salad. Remember not to overfill it.

9. Drizzle with Spicy O’Reilly’s Hot Mango Sauce, wrap it up and… Enjoy!

How to wrap:

1. Put your filling in the middle of your tortilla and fold the left and right edges in toward the middle.

2. Fold the bottom edge of the wrap over the fillings and tuck them inside the tortilla.

3. Roll the tortilla tightly toward the top edge. You can spread a touch of sauce (bonus!) along the top edge to hold your wrap closed.

Here’s a YouTube clip of how it’s done!

Mix it up:

There are endless possibilities when it comes to customising your grilled halloumi wraps. For a vegan option, try substituting the halloumi for tofu or tempeh. If you’re looking for a protein-packed wrap, add grilled chicken or shrimp. If you want the flavour of the grilled cheese to stand out, try Spicy O’Reilly’s Original sauce. Or for an extra heat kick with a smoky touch, top your wrap with Spicy O’Reilly’s Smokin’ Hot Sauce instead.

To make your wrap even more filling and satisfying, feel free to add in your favourite vegetables. Grilled mushrooms, onions, and courgette are all great options. Hummus or Guacamole make tasty additions and you can also top your wrap with fresh herbs like coriander or parsley.

Instead of grilling the Halloumi, you could shallow fry it until it’s brown and crispy all over.

If you want to ditch the tortilla altogether, you can always turn your grilled halloumi wrap into a salad. Simply pile all of your ingredients onto a bed of crispy greens, peppers, and tomatoes, drizzle on your favourite Spicy O’Reilly’s sauce and tuck in!

Making memorable wraps:

When it comes to grilling, there are a few things you’ll want to keep in mind when preparing your Halloumi. First, make sure your grill is nice and hot before cooking. This will help to ensure that they get nice and crispy. Secondly, be sure to oil your grill before adding the slices of cheese. This will help to prevent them from sticking and tearing. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different fillings. Filled wraps are the perfect vehicle for all sorts of flavour combinations.

Now that you know how to prepare your grill for making these delicious wraps, let’s talk about what goes inside them. For this recipe, we used halloumi cheese, which is a great option for grilling because it doesn’t melt like other cheeses. It also has a nice salty flavour that pairs well with the fruity sweetness of the Hot Mango sauce. As for the vegetables, we used grilled red peppers and onions, but you could really use any vegetables that you like. Grilled courgette or aubergine would also be delicious in these wraps.

Once you’ve decided on your fillings, it’s time to start assembling your wraps. We like to start by spreading a layer of coleslaw on the wrap. followed by the grilled Halloumi, peppers, and salad, then top it off with a drizzle of Spicy O’Reilly’s Hot Mango Sauce

When it comes to grilling, there are a few things you’ll want to keep in mind when serving up your halloumi wraps. First, if you’re using wooden skewers, be sure to soak them in water for at least 30 minutes before grilling. This will help to prevent them from burning.

As for the Halloumi itself, it’s best to slice it into 1-inch thick pieces so that it cooks evenly on the grill. And when it comes to the hot mango sauce, a little goes a long way! So start with a small amount and then add more to taste.

When assembling your wraps, be sure to use fresh ingredients like crisp lettuce, juicy tomatoes, and fragrant herbs. These will really make your wraps sing!
